The visual analog scale (VAS) allows for tracking of the patient’s symptom levels. The VAS is optional - you can decide whether to enable it or not for each patient. The decision to enable the VAS is made when you prescribe an exercise program to a patient.
If the VAS is enabled, on any given day the patient can use the slider and rate their symptoms on a scale of 0-10. Embodia then automatically graphs this data for you in a Patient Performance graph (by symptom level and date), available in the programs tab of each patient profile.
The VAS can be enabled or disabled for any exercise program.
Patient side: This is what the VAS looks like on a patient dashboard once they log in to their secure Embodia portal:
Practitioner side: This is what a Patient Performance graph can look like; your graph would surely have more data points though.
When prescribing exercises, you can choose to enable or disable the visual analog scale (VAS) by checking or unchecking the box beside 'Allow the patient to track their symptom levels using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS).'
You can also disable or enable the VAS after a program has already been created and shared with a patient. This is outlined in the lesson, Editing prescribed exercise programs.
